THE MINISTER

His middle initial is "D" and there are rumors in the religious circle that it stands for dynamic. Ervin Seamster, or Dr. E. D. Seamster, Jr. as listed on his resume, is in the process of building one of the most promising urban ministries up-and-coming in the Christian community on the scene today. "Give me another ten years," Seamster once promised, "and I'll really have it together then." But believers and non-believers who have seen "The Light"(Light of the World Church), say he's already got it
together and can only get better.
From all the glowing reviews and amens given Dr. Seamster, he's not by any means considered an overnight...

CHURCH HISTORY

Light of the World Church of Christ (LWCC) was founded on August 1, 1999. It was then we established our belief in “Church and community cooperating to bring glory to Christ.” LWCC strives to bring a first century message to a 21st century world. The church is a non-denominational community looking to the future and working to bring the message of God to those around us. We want to bring people of all walks of life into the body of Christ. We believe in dynamic worship and revolve around the idea of “Same Message, Different Method.” We take the Word of God and apply it to the day and times we live in.
LWCC believes in reaching the unchurched, those that are disillusioned with the church, and the pre-churched, those who have yet to come into a relationship with Christ. We desire to create a non-threatening environment for those who have stopped attending or never attended church.
We have and will continue to be a conduit of change throughout the Dallas community. Every year we take a senior and renovate their home. We also pass out turkeys during the holidays at the Martin Luther King Center in Fair Park. Currently we feed victims of HIV and AIDS at the Hillcrest House. We have been involved with voter registration workshops and will continue to hold community forums. Many civic and religious leaders in the Dallas/Ft Worth area have visited the church over the years.

We believe in the power of the youth. We value making an investment in the “now generation.” LWCC wants to equip them with the tools they will need in this world. We have established scholarships to send the young men and women of our church to college. In our mission to reach young people, we have two mentoring programs, The Sons of Samuel for young men and Women of Worship for young women. We are currently revamping our youth ministry. We have two youth services on Sunday, a newsletter, and we also teach reading at the church every Saturday. In January of 2009 we completed renovations to our nursery.
Our church believes strongly in the power of women in the ministry. Women serve in many capacities in our church. A woman currently serves on our finance board. We also have women who work as serving leaders, programs and special events, and our news broadcast.
We are a church that looks to the future. In March of 2009 we ordained, for the first time, three deacons. These men are responsible for maintaining the grounds and buildings of the ministry. With in the next three to five years, the church is looking to ordain elders to help Dr. Seamster with the spiritual matters of the church. LWCC plans to include a casual “seeker sensitive” service in the next year. The service would be held twice a month on Saturdays. We hope with in the next five to seven years we can create affordable housing for seniors and battered women. We look forward to starting a ministry to reach out to the men and women in prison.
LWCC through the Word of God is and will continue to be a conduit for change in the community around us. We are excited about our 10-year anniversary. We have truly been blessed and pray we are blessed with many more years to serve the Lord.
